Discovery starts before the product page

If an AI shopping agent has to guess how your storefront works, you are already behind. Discovery is not just about having product pages online. It is about publishing enough machine-readable context that an external system can identify what the store offers and how it should interact with it.

For Prestashop merchants, that usually means the default storefront is incomplete from an agent perspective. The catalog may be public, but it is still packaged mainly for browser rendering. Agents need cleaner entry points.

The first requirement is a stable product feed

The easiest way to make a catalog usable for AI systems is to publish a machine-readable feed with predictable fields. Title, price, availability, canonical URL, and product summaries should be accessible without scraping storefront HTML.

When that layer is missing, every downstream client has to reverse-engineer the page structure. That creates inconsistency and makes indexing less reliable.

Structured data still matters, but only if it is clean

Many Prestashop stores already output JSON-LD. The problem is quality, not presence. Theme code and plugin combinations often generate duplicate Product blocks, stale Offer data, or malformed markup.

For agent discovery, broken schema is not a small cosmetic issue. It creates uncertainty around what the product page is actually saying. Clean, singular Product-related structured data is much easier for external systems to trust.

Well-known discovery routes reduce guesswork

Agents should not need custom instructions for every storefront. Well-known discovery routes make capability signals more predictable and easier to consume across stores.

When those routes are published consistently, merchant onboarding becomes simpler and external systems can identify available resources faster.

Policy signals are part of discovery too

AI-facing discovery is not only about access. It is also about control. Merchants need to define how crawlers and model-driven clients should behave, which is why files like robots.txt and llms.txt belong in the same operational conversation.

Without explicit policy output, discovery becomes ambiguous and governance stays fragmented.

The goal is operational clarity

A discoverable storefront is one where the machine-facing layer is easy to verify. You should be able to confirm that feeds, discovery routes, schema output, and policy files are live and valid without manual digging.

That is what turns AI-readiness from a vague idea into an operational capability.
